I offer individual (one-on-one) counseling, iTherapy and group therapy, covering the issues below. I also work with organizational leaders looking to improve employee wellbeing--> View corporate consulting services. While I do facilitate in-person workshops in Tokyo from time to time, all my therapy sessions are conducted online.

Here's more on my approach:

Discovering ourselves is like unwrapping a special gift. It brings us clarity and greater self-compassion. However, the journey doesn't stop there. We usually long for concrete changes in our daily lives, so that we can live more wholeheartedly. To cater to both these needs, I blend (1) an insight-based approach, working with you to understand the "WHY" of your behaviour/ thoughts/ feelings, with

(2) an action-oriented approach, giving you the tools you need to address the "SO WHAT" and "NOW WHAT".

I have the privilege of assisting a diverse community of expatriates, immigrants, and globally minded individuals from regions like Japan, South/East Asia, Australia, Europe, and the Middle East. My specialty lies in addressing the following issues:

Unraveling the mystery of 'WHY' - what drives your thoughts, feelings and behaviour

We all carry our emotional baggage and cannot simply wish it away. Additionally, life as an expat, nomad, or member of the international community presents its own set of unique challenges. This often leaves us feeling anxious, and stuck. Simply letting time pass isn't always enough to heal.

To guide you through these emotions, I incorporate mindfulness-based Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Together, we'll build skills that enable you to observe and respond to difficult feelings without judgment.

Furthermore, using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), we will collaboratively explore the thoughts and beliefs that may be getting in the way of your daily life. We would typically spend some time understanding where in your life these beliefs come from, exploring childhood experiences if and when needed.

By understanding the roots of our thoughts and feelings, we free ourselves from their grip, and become more resilient in challenging situations. This also means we are less likely to want to numb our pain by engaging in unhelpful habits like impulsive or binge eating, lashing out at others, 'doomscrolling' on social media, alcohol, smoking or substance abuse.

Being aware of our triggers, beliefs, thoughts and feelings is great, but ultimately most people are looking for concrete changes in their life, so that they can live more fully.

Blending Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, we'll explore your life values and aspirations. Together, we'll chart a path toward a life guided by your values, equipping you with evidence-based tools for the journey.

There are lots of aspects of life that we can't control, but the beauty of here-and-now therapies is that they equip you to life your best life despite the hurdles and challenges that come your way.
